MIAMI, FL – 04-27-2018 — Sarimá Gracia, Founder and Chief Creative Officer of A+S IDEAS STUDIO, Inc., a Miami-based, Hispanic full scope digital advertising and branding agency, attended the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) 2018 Legislative Summit in Washington DC. Paraphrasing John F. Kennedy’s famous quote, her key takeaway was “ask not what your government can do for you, ask what you can do for your government.”

Although she had the opportunity to meet and interact with top level officials from both sides of the isle such as Senator Bill Nelson (D-FL), Ranking Member of the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee, and Jennifer González Colón, Resident Commissioner of her native Puerto Rico, as well as attend presentations by cabinet members such as Alexander Acosta, Labor Secretary and former Dean of FIU’s Law School, the most enriching aspect of this unique experience was to meet fellow small business entrepreneurs, and learn about their dreams and aspirations, as well as the challenges they have had to overcome.

“We’re all in this together; the sense of camaraderie I experienced among fellow small business owners was outstanding and I look forward to partnering with many of the people I met in one way or another.” Ms. Gracia added: “And to know that Latina women like myself are opening businesses at a rate five times that of white males is just an empowering feeling.” In fact, according to statistics shared during the Legislative Summit meetings and presentations, while in 1979 there were about 600,000 Hispanic-owned businesses in the country, today that figure has grown to a staggering 4+ million.

During the course of three action-packed days, the 2018 USHCC Legislative Summit brought together business and chamber leaders, and elected officials from both sides of the aisle. This summit was an opportunity for the community to come together, make connections, and ensure a collective and strong voice to represent the Hispanic business community.

“I am extremely grateful to the USHCC for this amazing opportunity and look forward to participating in future summits, hopefully with a lot more government contracting experience under my belt.” In fact, one of the highlights of the 2018 USHCC Legislative Summit was the presentation by Rafael Marrero from Rafael Marrero & Company, who is A+S IDEAS STUDIO, Inc.‘s government certification consultant and the premiere business-to-government (B2G) management consulting firm in the country. Mr. Marrero is now actively working with A+S IDEAS STUDIO, Inc. in securing the firm’s GSA Schedule.
